Defenseman Tim Gleason goes back to the West Coast for the team's next game when the Hurricanes play Wednesday night at Anaheim.
That comes after Saturday night's 2-1 home victory against the Los Angeles Kings, who are Gleason's former team.
So certainly he'll have his share of reminders in the week or so since agreeing to a four-year contract extension with the Hurricanes. In six seasons with the Hurricanes, he has come to a few conclusions.
"A place you want to play hockey, a place you want to live," he said.
Family issues were among the reasons Gleason said he prefers to stay staked out with the Hurricanes. He also tired of the constant trade speculation that was connected to his name.

Sweeping the defending Stanley Cup champions is nice, but the Carolina Hurricanes would trade all four wins for a better spot in the standings. Cam Ward made 47 saves -- 22 in the first period and 20 in the third -- Brandon Sutter had a goal and an assist, and the Hurricanes finished their first season sweep of the Bruins with a 3-0 victory on Thursday night. |
