Stars Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

In what is becoming a familiar refrain, if the Stars are to snap a playoff dry spell that has now reached three consecutive seasons, they are going to need regulation wins against the very teams they're battling for the bottom few playoff spots in the Western Conference.

Saturday's 2-1 shootout win over Minnesota was the latest example. Sure, Dallas did get two points for the win and now has 56 with a record of 27-22-2. But at the same time, Minnesota (25-19-8) also got a point by virtue of losing in the shootout and still has a two-point cushion over the Stars with 58 points.

After this one was in the books, it was hard for Dallas first-year head coach Glen Gulutzan to hide his true feelings about this game's outcome.

"We have to be better," Gulutzan said.
