Panthers Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
With their train not leaving Penn Station for another hour, the Panthers were able to leisurely pack their gear and enjoy Sunday's dominating 4-0 victory over the Rangers.
When the team finally boarded its train headed south, it did so knowing it had a pretty good week—but another bunch of challenges await. Florida got four of six points in its season-long three-game homestand, and getting two points at Madison Square Garden is something Florida has done only twice in its last nine visits to Manhattan.
After playing at Washington on Tuesday, the Panthers return home for a two-game set against Buffalo and Boston. Florida then embarks on a five-game road trip that is not going to be easy. |
Anderson makes 37 saves in Panthers' 4-0 win (AP)
Craig Anderson is making Tomas Vokoun's starting job look tenuous. Anderson got the call for the second straight game over Vokoun and made Florida coach Peter DeBoer's somewhat surprising decision pay off with a 37-save shutout in the Panthers' 4-0 victory against the New York Rangers on Sunday. "I thought he would go back to Vokie," he said. |
Rangers beat Panthers in shootout (AP)

The New York Rangers overcame another late tying goal to complete a Florida sweep. Markus Naslund and Nikolai Zherdev scored in the shootout to give the Rangers a 4-3 victory over the Florida Panthers on Friday night. Henrik Lundqvist allowed Rostislav Olesz's goal in the tiebreaker, then stopped the final two attempts to improve to 5-1 in shootouts this season.

Panthers get Tarnasky from Predators for Belak (AP)
The Florida Panthers acquired center Nick Tarnasky from the Nashville Predators on Thursday for right wing Wade Belak. The 24-year-old Tarnasky had an assist and 17 penalty minutes in 11 games for Nashville this season. The 32-year-old Belak had no points and 25 penalty minutes in 15 games for Florida this season. |
Devils beat Panthers in overtime (AP)

Johnny Oduya made sure the New Jersey Devils skated off with a full two points. The defenseman scored his first goal of the season with 55.5 seconds left in overtime to give New Jersey a 3-2 victory over the Florida Panthers on Wednesday night, the Devils' fifth consecutive victory. Oduya scored on a wrist shot that went between Craig Anderson's pads and his glove.

Campbell's goal lifts Panthers over Hurricanes (AP)

Nobody seemed sure how Florida scored its winning goal Monday night. That hardly mattered to the Panthers. Gregory Campbell's goal snapped a tie late in the second period and sent Florida to a 3-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. Ville Peltonen initially was credited with the decisive goal, but a scoring change after the game gave it to Campbell.

Zednik injures left arm in Florida's win (AP)
Florida wing Richard Zednik will be out for several weeks after injuring his left arm during Monday night's 3-2 victory over Carolina. Zednik was hurt in the second period when he was checked into the boards behind the Carolina net by defenseman Josef Melichar. "It looks fairly long term, weeks anyway," coach Pete DeBoer said. |
Bruins win again to tie for conference lead (AP)

The Boston Bruins are right on schedule. Marc Savard and Patrice Bergeron had a goal and an assist each to lead Boston to its eighth victory in nine games, a 4-2 decision over Florida on Friday night that moved the Bruins into a tie for the Eastern Conference lead. "One of the things they preached at the start of the season was positioning," defenseman Aaron Ward said.

Elias, Gionta lead Devils past Panthers (AP)

After spending most of his career as a backup, Scott Clemmensen is relishing a chance to be the New Jersey Devils' starting goalie. Clemmensen stopped 23 shots, and Patrik Elias and Brian Gionta each had a goal and an assist in the Devils' 3-1 victory over the Florida Panthers on Thursday night. The night belonged to the 31-year-old Clemmensen, who came within 11:18 of his first shutout in more...
