Left wing Keith Tkachuk isn't saying if 2008-09 will be his last season in the NHL, but if that's how it turns out, he's checking quite a few career achievements off his list.
After playing in his 1,000th NHL game and scoring his 500th career goal last season, Tkachuk netted career point No. 1,000 in Sunday's 4-2 victory at Atlanta.
"You just dream of playing in the NHL," said Tkachuk, 36. "I feel very fortunate. I'm having a blast. It's nice when you win." Tkachuk's 511th career goal came much like the others in his 17-year career: He scored on the power play and was knocked to the ice as the goal crossed the red line. Blues send Stempniak to Toronto for two players (AP)
The Blues traded forward Lee Stempniak to the Toronto Maple leafs for center Alexander Steen and defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo. Steen has two goals and two assists in 20 games this season, and has 50 goals and 76 assists in 253 career games. |
Boyes scores twice for Blues (AP)

As Chris Mason prepared to make his sixth start in net for the struggling St. Louis Blues, he was beginning to wonder if he was ever going to come out on the winning end. "Coming to a new team, I felt sometimes I wasn't going to get one here," said Mason, who was acquired from Nashville for a fourth-round pick to backup Manny Legace.

Stempniak's OT goal ends Ducks' road streak (AP)

The Anaheim Ducks had three defenders back on the overtime goal that ended their five-game road winning streak. One too many, as it turned out. Lee Stempniak beat the odds when he broke in alone against the trio, scoring an unassisted goal with 2:21 left in the extra period to give the Blues a 3-2 victory Friday night.
