Canucks Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)

The Canucks continue to receive a mixed back of medical news as the summer winds down and training camp approaches.

The good news came from defenseman Alex Edler, whose season ended two periods before the rest of the team after mammoth (now former) Chicago forward Dustin Byfuglien fell awkwardly on his leg after an epic collision in the corner early in Game 6 of the second round of the playoffs. The hit left Edler with a sprained right ankle, on crutches for three weeks, and in a walking cast for another three. But he was back on the ice taking part in informal skating sessions with teammates in Vancouver in late August and pronounced himself fully recovered.

"You always take some time off after the season, so it was a good time for an injury if it had to happen," said...
